Project Management Professional (PMP®) is a globally recognized professional certification managed by the Project Management Institute (PMI). Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®), PMI’s flagship publication with industry standards, is used as the guide for testing aspirants.

Since its inception in 1984, the PMP certification has become one of the most sought certifications. It adds instant value to the resume, and many companies are making it compulsory to have a PMP certification. It is also considered extremely valuable to move up the career ladder in your current company.

There are some prerequisites one should meet to write the PMP exam. A candidate must have either:

Option 1:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent university degree or any other globally recognized degree
• Post-graduate students can also apply
• Individuals with 3 to 5 years of work experience are eligible to apply
• 35 hours of project management training
• Sign and abide by the project management Code of Ethics
• Maintain professional conduct

Option 2:

• High school graduate diploma or equivalent secondary school credential
• 35 hours of project management training
